Noa Yafe is a Tel Aviv-based artist who has studied and exhibited internationally. Yafe studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York and earned her BFA from Hamidrasha at Beit Berl College, where she also completed her postgraduate studies in 2012. The artist has shown her photography in solo exhibitions throughout Israel, and as part of group exhibitions in cities abroad, including Miami and New York. Among her various awards and recognitions, Yafe received Honorable Mention at the 2009 International Photography Awards.
Yafe’s solo exhibition The Shadow, (at RawArt Gallery in 2016) explored the contemporary appearances of shadows. Featuring three-dimensional wall dioramas constructed from photographs, the works portrayed shadows not only visually, but also “as social, political and ideological projections.”
Yafe’s current exhibition, The Perfect Crime (at CCA-Tel Aviv, on display until March 18) is an “installation disguised as a photography exhibition.” As in the past, she integrates photography into her three-dimensional work, this time “exposing how photography as a representation both documents ‘reality’ and presents a constructed, false version of it.”
